The fight between a resident's dogs and a raccoon occurred on Deans Lane on Saturday, July 20, according to South Brunswick police.
The raccoon was retrieved by animal control and sent for testing.
On Wednesday, July 24, the township's Health Department was notified that the raccoon tested positive for rabies, police said.
Police did not say whether the dogs became infected or had to be treated.
